OUR PROGRAMS

Preschool

Afternoon Program - the entry point into the school.

The first year of Playgroup is referred to as the “Afternoon Program,” for ages two to three and meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The school year goes from August to June. There are 12 children and four teachers in the Afternoon Program.

The 2022-23 school year will be the last year the Afternoon Program will be offered. Please see the 2023-2024 Applicants tab for more information.

Morning Program

Children transition to Playgroup’s Morning Program in their second year. The Morning Program includes both “Year 1” (ages three to four) and “Year 2” (ages four to five). Year 1 and Year 2 attend school together in a mixed age setting, though they separate at certain times. The Morning Program meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., August to June. There are five teachers and up to 24 children enrolled in the Morning Program each day.

Extended Day

Extended Days are optional. They are offered to the Morning Program children on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Extended Day is limited to 15 children each day. This gives the children a smaller group experience, while allowing them to get used to longer school days.

Extracurricular Classes
Extracurricular classes are optional. Led by individual teachers, extra curricular classes provide another opportunity for a smaller group experience as well as the chance to spend additional time on a particular subject matter or activity. Past classes have included Spanish, science, art, storytelling, dance, and cooking. Extracurricular classes are offered to Morning Program children directly after the Morning Program on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 p.m. to
1:15 p.m., and directly after Extended Day on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Parent & Me program is designed for children to attend with their parent(s). In addition to creating a safe environment for children to socialize and experience sensory related activities, the program offers strategies for parents to feel empowered in determining the best choices for their family. Sessions are attended with the Program Facilitator/Administrator, two teachers, and at least one parent per child.

Parent & ME

We believe the preschool child is interested in

the give and take among equals. A child needs the chance to be a leader, a follower,

and a friend.
