MEET OUR STAFF
Director
SHADI BAKHTIARI
Shadi has over 30 years of experience working with children and families. She began her career at Beverly Glen Playgroup in 1994 as a teacher’s aide. During her tenure at Playgroup, Shadi has held almost every position the school has to offer, including teacher, parent, and Director.
During her years as a parent at Playgroup, Shadi began “Consulting With Shadi,” through which she guided families through the many challenges of parenthood. In 2013, she helped found the Parent & Me program at Beverly Glen Playgroup.
Shadi continues to work directly with children and parents in her role as Director. She draws on her education and extensive experience as both an educator and parent to guide Playgroup’s rich developmental curriculum.
Shadi received her BA in Child Development from California State University, Northridge, and is a certified children’s yoga instructor.
OUR TEACHERS
Tanya
I began my teaching career at Beverly Glen Playgroup in 2001, where I worked for four years before taking time away to start a family. I earned my degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching children grow, learn, and blossom each day. I love creating a fun, engaging, and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable exploring and discovering the world around them.
What I love most about Playgroup is the strong sense of community and the relationships we build with children and families.
Outside of Playgroup, I enjoy traveling and hiking.
Sara
My name is Sara, and I am thrilled to be a teacher at Beverly Glen Playgroup. I have eight years of experience in early childhood education and hold an AA degree in Visual Presentation, as well as a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from UCLA.
I am passionate about creating a safe, loving environment where children feel supported and encouraged to thrive. I believe children learn best through play, curiosity, and exploration. What I love most about Playgroup is the close-knit community and the opportunity to create a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels valued.
Outside of Playgroup, I enjoy visiting museums and art galleries, spending time at the beach, and being with my family.
Lital
I have been teaching at Beverly Glen Playgroup since November 2023, but my love for teaching started long before that when I was little and loved playing "teacher." I earned my degree in Elementary Education from California State University, Northridge.
I love learning, playing, and growing alongside the children each day. I especially enjoy seeing their excitement and imagination come to life through our classroom setups and activities. What I love most about Playgroup is the strong sense of community we create together. I feel lucky to work alongside such supportive teachers and leadership while giving children the freedom to explore, play, and feel valued.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy going to concerts, crafting, crocheting, coloring, doing puzzles, and taking long walks with my dog.
Jenifer
After graduating high school, I had the opportunity to take Early Childhood Education classes, which inspired me to pursue a career working with young children. I have now spent 12 years teaching and supporting children as they grow and develop.
I studied Early Childhood Education and earned a bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is witnessing children's growth and having the privilege of being part of their meaningful developmental milestones.
I love the strong sense of community at Playgroup and the opportunity to create a fun, nurturing environment where children can learn through play and exploration. Outside of school, I enjoy being creative and spending time with family and friends.
